Belgium

The national flag of Belgium is a tricolour flag that features equal horizon blocks of black, yellow and red. These colours were taken from the traditional Duchy of Brabant coat of arms, which featured a golden lion with red paws on a black background. The flag was introduced in 1830, and has stood proud as a symbol of Belgium nationalism ever since.

The flag is finished by hand with a headband rope and toggle as standard, ready to attach directly to a flagpole. The three exposed sides of the flag are finished with a strong double hem and a triple sewn hem on the fly edge for extra durability.

In accordance with official guidelines, the Belgium flag measures 2.6m tall and 3m wide with a given ratio of 13:15. The three block-coloured stripes featured in this tricolour design are black, yellow and red.
