Planning & Commissioning – There are few processes as complex as hand painted flags. So, we take great care to know exactly what you want. We usually begin with a meeting to discuss your ideas, explain the options, and advise on materials, finishing and sizing.

We’ll help you finalise your design or get a copy of the coat of arms from College of Arms London. We assess the complexity and then provide a quotation for the full process. Once the commission is confirmed we will produce proofs and working artwork for approval.

Design & Layout – These detailed one-of-a-kind pieces usually fall into two main uses and styles;

• Heraldic Designs are often the reproduction of the Coat of Arms of a family, business, or organisation. With emphasis on several key features and the exact positioning and sizing, these designs demand a high level of precision and care.
• Parade Banners draw from a variety of modern and traditional themes and typically feature a central image with surrounding embellishments. Usually featuring images of people or a significant event, these pieces regularly add scrolls, floral motifs, and text to finish the design.

These styles help create a clear vision for the commission and allow each customer the chance to choose the size, shape and other characteristics they are looking for.

Manufacturing – Choose from a range of high-quality materials for your hand painted flag or banner. Heavy Poly Cotton creates a stunning lustre finish, Knitted Polyester allows for hand sewn applique details, and Pure Silk gives the ultimate expression of quality for bespoke commissions.

Using an enlarged version of the artwork as a guide, the artist adds detail to the already cut and hand-sewn piece. Hand painting elements such as shading and metallic colours takes many hours and guarantees a truly bespoke original. The lead time for hand-painted commissions is typically 8-10 weeks.

Final Embellishments – Add the finishing touches that will give your hand-painted flag the flair it deserves. Choose from a range of colours for block fringing or bespoke two-colour blends matching your design.
