Our Client
Formed in 1829 by Robert Peel, the Metropolitan Police Service is the territorial police force responsible for law enforcement in the 32 boroughs of London. Also accountable for national counter-terrorism measures and protecting the Royal Family, the force is led by the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis, answering to the Major of London, the Home Office, and the Queen.
Employing more than 32,000 full-time officers and over 1800 special constables, the force has jurisdiction throughout all of England and Wales although mainly focuses on the frontline police work in the UK’s capital city.
With more than 180 stations across London, each location looks after a particular department or local area. Flagmakers was approached by Shoreditch Taser Training Centre.
The Brief
As the primary taser training facility for the Met Police, the Shoreditch Taser Training Centre provides hands-on experience and in-person instruction for more than 300 officers a week. This ‘old, tired station’ needed a renovation to transform a neglected location into the centre of excellence to train and educate staff members at various levels.
The Met Police were looking for a supplier who could create a professional and modern looking training facility using a combination of print and display solutions that was functional, contemporary, whilst still showcasing the history, recognisable brand, and the important work of the police force.
Our Solution
We began this project by carrying out multiple site visits to fully understand the space, and to allow our technical team the chance to consider the best solutions that would suitably fit the requirements of the client.
It was agreed by the Met Police that our experienced team would produce and install a range of rigid displays made from ACM featuring high-quality images of taser training. These stunning images reflect the serious nature of the health and safety training carried out whilst highlighting the level of professionalism and wide scope of police activity that happens at the training centre.
The client also agreed on branded fence hoarding made from eco-mesh. This alternative to PVC mesh is adorned with the Met Police logo and corporate imaging which creates an impactful impression at multiple locations around the site. This suggestion from Flagmaker’s technical sales team provided a product that is suitable for outdoor use and adverse weather conditions and is also environmentally friendly.
Several visitors to the Shoreditch training centre have commented on the outstanding quality of the print and display solutions. The client is thrilled with the finished results and has already passed on our details to another organisation looking for a similar set of products and services to create a stunning welcome to their location in Hendon.
