Overlooking Hyde Park on one side and Knightsbridge on the other, the Mandarin Oriental is a stunning London hotel that promises extravagance and richness with every visit. Since it opened as a hotel in 1902, the building has been subject to several multi-million-pound renovations and now offers an essence of timeless heritage coupled with contemporary flair and glamour.

The Brief

The Mandarin Oriental, Hyde Park proudly waves multiple flags at the entrances to the hotel. Showcasing the locations of sister hotels across the world, the Hong Kong parent company, and the pleasure of being a landmark in the UK’s capital city. The hotel sought a supplier of high-end flags that would create a prestigious and impressive welcome for visitors and guests.

With a client list including world leaders, Hollywood actors, and more, the Hyde Park Mandarin Oriental is not just any hotel. With unique Edwardian architecture, the hotel asked for a series of flagpoles and mounts that would add to the luxury ambience but without disturbing historical features.

The Solution

Since 2013, Flagmakers have produced superb quality flags for the Mandarin Oriental hotel. From the intricate details of national flags to the custom design of corporate logos, the flags flown at the hotel showcase the hard work and skill that Flagmakers put into every piece created.

Our team worked with Mandarin Oriental to design and install 6 flagpoles in 2017 with bespoke bracketry. Challenged with an unorthodox mounting method, the flagpoles needed hardware custom made to suit the requirements of the hotel and the suitability of the flags.
